Are you in the UK, USA or elsewhere? Their prices here in the UK are not even slightly competitive and the prices they pay for items are actually admirable because it takes balls to publish them! For example No Man's Sky is £9 to sell, £35 to buy:

i grew up visiting a pawn shop that had a video game section that was a store in itself but just common stuff its where i went for genesis stuff
that place closed recently and sold to a collector. a small retro shop opened 5 years ago that while dingy is great for the community has great selection and pays better than and has better prices than gamestop. we also have a few small shops in towns nearby that aren't as good but still handy one of them seems to have a specialty in imported famicom stuff

I used to buy from FuncoLand, Game X Change, and GameStop back in the day, but anymore I simply don't buy many old games at all IRL. I think the last old game I bought in person was from Movie Trading Company several years ago - a PS1 copy of DOOM.

Anyone know a really good spot in Denver that isn't a place like Goodwill/Savers? I'm going to be out there next week for work and if I have any time to myself, I may try to hit up a local game store.

Flea markets are usually my best deals but I also go to yard sales, goodwill (just found snowboard kids for under $3), thrift stores, pawn shops regularly. I also look for retro game stores whenever I travel and post what I think of them on my instagram https://www.instagram.com/ashevent/

I actually buy very little online. Usually only those items I know i'll never find in the wild. But I've even scored semi-rare titles like Kuon, in the hunt and Project Academy at flea markets, found a jaguar and a few games at a yard sale as well. I figure I have years to collect so why not enjoy the thrill of the hunt before having to go online.

My #1 spot is a huge retro vendor at a flea market in town, we have a really good report and he gives really good deals every time since i'm a good customer. (about a 2/3rd of his store shown below)
