Our day out (sounds like a crappy school project) hahaha

Today, the wife and I went on a 4 hour drive to Bepu in Oita. Bepu is a famous part of Japan for Onsen or Hot Spring (Spa) in English. We ended up not going to the Onsen though and visited a temple and then moved on to a special beach to be covered from head to toe in HOT black sand. This was really heavy and sooooooo hot. We had to stay covered for 15 minutes. I'd never seen so much sweat drip from my skin. Anyway I though that I'd share a few of the Temple photos with you and one of a special "hill" in Bepu.

its that game thats going to be on PSP. Someone posted a video of it running.

 

Everything is red because of the religion that that temple belongs too. Other temples are all black because they belong to a different religion. I like the red ones most.

Ah, that's the one. Oh and yes, it is on the PSP I belive.

Been a while since my eastern religions class, but are the red temples Shinto?

Also, isn't that cat from the Doko Demo Issho series or something like that? Sortof the unofficial Sony mascot if I'm not mistaken...

 

Yep that is.

 

Shinto shrines aren't synonimous with red, infact, I don't think most are painted at all... generally (zen) buddhist ones would be black though.

Japanese generally DON'T like red.

 

The whole area looks a lot like the Nikko temple complex I think

I tell ya i got to visit japan one of these days(bro has before but went with his japanese friend that lived there). Still some very nice pics Yakumo.

 

That van is awsome, not bothered about the pic/link to Sony, I just love customised vans. I used to know a guy with a van called 'the Green Submarine' had a periscope fitted to it, surf board on the roof, even had a wood burning stove inside with a chimeny on the top lol... :smt023
The other pics are great too, I'd love to visit Japan, but sadly it is not on my partners list of places to go :-(
