If you changed the game programming for everything to move at half the speed - it would just be exactly the same as stock.

I think he meant something along the line of :
    1) Change the code so the time is half what it used to be (game is 2x slow-mo, but fps is standard anyway)
    2) Double the base clock of everything, time is back to regular, but fps is 2x the standard one

Afaik 2) is what drakon does right now. I don't know if 1) is possible without the sourcecode, it'd be hard for sure though.

If you want faster, just haxor snes9x's super fx and 2 emulator so that it runs a gillion (yes, that is a real number, search on google) times smoother.

I will take real hardware over emulation any day.

Yup, that's the whole idea of this project, to see just how far I can take the real hardware. Surprisingly you can push it really hard without any trouble. I love messing with the original hardware and finding ways to get the most out of it.

48 mhz starfox 1. Any faster and the cart outpaces the snes so this's the fastest the game can run at:

Does it seems to run smoother? Original Starfox was way ahead of the time getting first console real time open world 3D video (games like Doom were limited in dungeon for example and wasn't as complicated to render video)

However I was bit bugged by the slow fps, looks like 15 or 20 fps.

Starfox 2 with a lot less slowdown and running around the maximum speed of the superfx chip (53.3 mhz):

Took a little research and simple reprogramming.

In the video the cars have a top speed of >100mph, there is no way the game clocked at the original speed looks like you're driving that fast. I can't work out from the two videos how much faster it is. The clocks seem to run at the same speed though, so I'm surprised the game can't cope.

Starfox 1 running at 57 mhz:

I also got vortex running at 55 mhz.

Difference is day and night in that video! Now if only it would be easy to implement that hack in SD2SNES
