Anyone know where I can get a guide to overclocking an AMD Athlon XP 3000+? I went to google, but I'm not sure which sites are legitimate sources.

    Well...

You don't really need a specific guide for your chip, it will function the same as pretty much all the Athlon XP chips with the same core.

In a nut shell you go into the BIOS when you start up your computer and raise the Front Side Bus or Multiplyer. The multiplyer is probably locked so odds are you're going to be stuck messing with the FSB. At the same time you may have to lock the PCI bus at 33mhz to keep it in spec if you raise the FSB. You may also need to increase the Vcore of the cpu to make it stable at higher speeds. You're also going to need something better than the standard cooling solution if you plan on doing much.

Also remember that getting into windows does not mean stable computer. Run Prime95, if it can complete a torture test run without errors you're probably ok.

Well what type of motherboard chipset do you have?

I recommend using nForce2 motherboards manufactured by Asus, Epox, MSI, or DFI. Th ey are all reliable overclocking motherboards and overclocking on an nForce2 board is easy.

I suggest pcper.com. It is a medium size community compared to overclockers. Ask around in those websites.
