So I've had these Falcon motherboard for quite some time now that I haven't done anything with. It's in fully working order except this one issue. The thing literally overheats within seconds of being turned on :p I'm tempted to cut the temperature sensor since that seems to be the issue but is there anything else I should try before this?

In my experience, cutting the temperature trace does more harm than good. As Stipo360 said, make sure the heat sync has conductive contact with the chips.
