I'm in Melbourne, Oz at the moment....Anyone know of any places in Melbourne (or Sydney) where Dreamcast stuff is available? - thanks!
I didn't see one single place that had Dreamcast stuff when I was in Sydney in May just gone. By the way, did Pinky Turn up? Yakumo
Yakumo- Pinky arrived safe and well!...many thanks!.....I got him (her?) just hours before flying out...cheers.... Thanks for the info on Sydney....:-(...
Pinky and the Brain is thee best cartoon after Simpsons..........alas it's not Pinky in that sense....but a pinky pearl controller to go with my Pink Pearl DC....
Hmmm.. Dreamcast stuff in Melbourne.. To tell you the truth, it's not all that easy to find decent DC stuff in general wanderings around Melbourne unless you've been specifically hunting it out for a while and know exactly where to look. You can always find secondhand DC stuff in Cash Convertors stores and pawnbrokers, but it's most often common and dodgy stuff (although extremely rarely you can find Japanese stuff) I'm not a specific DC collector, so as far as general areas I can't really help you. Even stores that carry secondhand games like Electronics Boutique and (what was once called) Pulsar don't tend to have many DC games. If you end up in the CBD of Melbourne, take a look on the corner of Bourke and Elizabeth. The store you're after used to be called Pulsar, and is situated above the bookstore. That'll probably be your best bet.
Craig - thanks for the tip for Melbourne....! I found a place called GameTraders in Geelong which has some DCs and about 20 or so games.... Would you know if the Oz Dreamcast is any different (in any way) from the European PAL release? (even a difference in the box?) - I noticed the Telstra logo... Thanks!
. no they are exactly the same except the power cord since we use different prong to Europe. That Telstra logo is because DC was used to be sold by Telstra Shop in its hey day and many of box will have the logo/stick on it. not in Melbourne but in Brisbane there's a company called burnstation.com which carries many DC titles but they tend to price their item too high... ;( cheers
pinky y cerebro! son pinky y cerebro! uno es un genio y el otro no esta cuerdo, de laboratorio son! con genes insertados! son pinky! son pinky y cerebro bro bro bro bro bro bro bro! :smt019
There is one major difference between the Australian Dreamcast and its overseas counterparts. The modem on the AU Dreamcast is only 33.6kbps, whereas the overseas models have a 56kbps modem.
Not sure if this is what you meant, but The other pal dreamcasts only have 33.6k modems, not just the aussie ones.
Thanks for the info guys......I'm back from holiday.....so can't buy in Oz at the moment anyway..... I've got a Visa to go and live and work in Oz, so will be back there soon, although doesn't look as if it's a haven for DC stuff!.... :smt022 Maybe fly via Dubai/Tokyo tho next time!
had read in one of PC magazines that in Sydney there is a shop specialising on consoles covering from NES to DC and next gen... never been there myself so can't tell how extensive theirs are... it's near Sydney University... cheers
