Thanks for the utilities as well as for including the source code I'll see if I can test these during the weekend and give feedback; I'll keep the source code handy for reference... though I'm still learning C/C++.
I like your attitude ! Sharing is caring and you're willing to learn and let us learn along with you. Thanks !
I've never seen mixed UMDs, btw if these mixed umds have the same structure as a GAME/VIDEO/AUDIO UMD , yes you can dump it with this tool.
You can only dump discs your PSP has encryption keys for. So if you are using a Japanese PSP which is marked "2" for video region, it means your PSP will be good only to dump Japanese and Euro Video UMDs.
Probably they don't, I'm not an expert on the structure of the disc, but there is/was a problem with them. For example the demo discs which were given with the first PSP are these mixed ones. Also some Movie umd have a demo on them. If you try to dump these umds you'll get only one part (movie or data) depends which one is first.
That's a GAME disc. I happen to have one and it's detected by the PSP as a GAME. (Has the PS controller logo printed on the UMD case as well)
if u want to be 100% sure of the umd type, hexedit the "UMD_DATA.BIN" of this umd , and read the lecter at 0x21. G = GAME V = VIDEO A = AUDIO These are the umd format that I know, and those format are detected by UMD Killer
I have several UMD movie discs that contain an system update. And they dump fine. You just HAVE to be able to watch it on the PSP for it to dump. And ANY modern CFW has facilities on it to allow for dumping. You don't need ancient software for that.
I was just asking as there was/is that problem. That's all. I'll test a few disk when I have time and see what I get.
The Ceramic White PSP May 2006 disc have this in UMD_DATE.BIN "UCED-00316|DA6F3673B2975237|0001|GVA |" and contain all 3 dirs (PSP_GAME, UMD_AUDIO and UMD_VIDEO). For same reason when I mount it as VIDEO it says "The disc could not be read." EDIT: Tried to dump a few VIDEO only UMD, but your program always freeze PSP. I have CFW 6.60 ME-1.6.
What kind of video umd are these ? when my program freeze ? please be more specific so I can fix the issue EDIT: are those video umds PROMO copies ?? EPIC EDIT: Thank you for your report ! I've found a nasty bug that affect UMD VIDEO DUMPING ! I'm going to fix the issue ! Expect a new version soon
After hours of coding , I've realized that Video UMDs are dumpable only in Kernel mode ! So I've made a PRX Edition of UMD Killer that can dump also Video UMDs without problems ! You can download it to my website Enjoy PS: Thank haunted
Get the US version of the movie 'Stealth' on UMD. It has a demo game of Wipeout Pure on it. I hadn't heard of the problem with dumping these hybrid discs, but if you want one to test, that's one I know of with real game code on it (not just system updates..), and it's widely available...
