i bought it at a gipsy fleamarket with a bunch of other games for something like 0.3 us dollars. i've heard of a pal golden axe 3 but with a jap shaped cart so that's why i'm suprised by this. what do you think of it?
Probally just a pirate cart. Also I'm pretty sure Golden Axe III never got released over here for the Mega Drive.
cart looks legit to me, the back of it has sega, made in japan and everything. if it's a pirate, it's a damn good one.
It's a fake. The plastic of the cartridge looks way too cheap to be official. Plus Asian Mega Drive games either have a special GOLD Mega Drive logo or just look like standard Mega Drive carts like those used in Japan. Yakumo EDIT - Ah, looks like the answer was presented as I was writing this post. Well, I was right though
the plastic is identical other pal originals i have. that's why i didn't cry fake from the first second. maybe some left over sega empty pal cartriges, who knows.
It must be the photos then because that cartridge looks to be in very bad shape made of cheap plastic. Even without the plastic of the cartridge it's easy to tell if it's a fake by the pure Japanese sticker used on a PAL / US cartridge. At some point in time Asian Mega Drive games came on Japanese style and western style cartridges however they had a gold Mega Drive logo that looked like the one below. The cases were normally the western style cases however some did use Japanese cases which came with Japanese instructions plus an English instruction booklet with the Asian Mega Drive logo. I used to have a Bare Knuckle game like this. The game was called Bare Knuckle 2 but had the shitty western Streets of Rage 2 art work. Yakumo
Be careful not to bend or put bending force on that bootleg cart, gloptops can be damaged by that and then it won't do you any good. Ofcourse it's so cheap I guess it wouldn't matter. Personally I expected to see an EPROM inside and it be a homemade bootleg.
could be a legitimate casing and they have popped a new board (albeit a fake) in it and slapped on a new label
