I got myself a brand new MD2 and I have got two RGB/Scart cables for it.... A brand new generic one from Ebay and another one which is used but original (From Ebay France). This is what I get on a Sony Bravia Flatscreen: 1. Generic RGB/Scart cable: Perfect picture, audio hum 2. Official RGB/Scart cable: Perfect audio (no hum), noise in picture - visible when you have a big area of one flat colour, especially blue Now for the really annoying bit (with both cables): Sometimes when I switch on the Megadrive with the TV already off, during some games I get sync problems, and the picture seems to be moving around in sudden jerks. If I switch the TV first, then the Megadrive, it seems to 'solve' the problem. I have replicated this with another flat screen TV (a Philips one). I have no such problems with a good old CRT (which I tested at my mum's!). Any ideas and insights? ThankS!
Myself I've seen two issues of this general type. It may or may not have anything to do with yours. Sync problems on CRT with enough of a strong color on screen, usually white. Of course I have to use a YPbPr encoder if that makes any difference. Having resistors added in my scart cable is an idea I'm considering to try (at the cost of darker picture). Also straight vertical bars in certain colors like blue. From how I understand... The composite color signal can interfere with RGB. Except disabling it has effects beyond black & white composite. Some devices won't accept RGB without composite color (the HDMI encoder box for my LCD seems this way).
