Was wondering if anyone had success modding a PAL SNES to normalise the video to that of an NTSC SNES so that they can use a PAL GC SCART lead. I don't want to mod my cable as I want to use it with my GC too.

Just wanted to know if anyone knew if the vales are set in the GPU or added later internally, perhaps meaning I can bridge between the GPU and the AV port for example?

    Any input appreciated.

Just buy a PAL 1-Chip SNES, they work with the GC RGB cable out of the box and have a clearer picture with less black/dirt.

Buying a new console isn't the solution to this. This machine is going to be hard modded to 60Hz and the lockout chip disabled.

And I am not going to mod my cable, although that solution will work a treat for the guy who wants RGB from his NTSC machine.

I feel as though the above link may help.

Your PAL 2PPU SNES will never ever work with an unmodified Gamecube RGB cable. So either buy a 1PPU SNES or mod your Gamecube RGB cable by removing the capacitors inside.

So tapping sync and R, G, B from the Ricoh 5C78 and adding 75 ohm resistors directly to the AV port pins definitely won't work in conjunction with my PAL GC cable?

    Might play with this later.

    just curious

I have a unmodded GC cable and its works with my PAL SNES without any issues

so what is it the op wants to do im confused

as its common knowledge that only PAL LEADS need modding to work on a NTSC Console

Well sure if you wanna invest that much time. Here is the video circuit of a 2PPU NTSC console. Just start at the S-RGB and build the same circuit into your PAL console.

If you look at the picture you also see why the RGB cable for the NTSC console has 220uF caps inside, because they left those out in the R/G/B lines in the console.

Your 2PPU PAL circuit should look like this, seems to me a somewhat different circuit and it need the 75Ohm to GND in the scart lead to work proper:
