    Hey guys,

Progressing through a supercic on a PAL super nintendo, all works however there appears to be a shimmer in the picture at 60hz. 50hz looks perfect.

have a 10k resistor between leg 13 and 14 on the pic16f630 14 being ground. i am using NTSC multiout cables.

just wondering has anyone else had this issue? if so how was it resolved?

made a video of the issue.

    greatly appreciate any assistance

    thanks

Can you try a PAL AV cable? PAL SNES consoles need a 75 ohm resistor to ground on the composite video line. NTSC cables do not need these so maybe this is the issue? If you don't have access to a PAL cable, you could solder the resistor to the Multi-Out in the console if needed.

The PAL Snes cable does have different wiring to the NTSC cable and you should use PAL cables, not NTSC ones.

Not saying its definitely the issue, but best to get that right first.

    Edit:

In the video you state you have done NTSC consoles before.... but NTSC consoles at 50hz with composite wouldnt give you a picture on most tv's - what cable do you usually use on those? RGB? if so, why composite for the PAL console?

Yeah will look into the cable situation first, seems the most logical. Not sure if I have a PAL multiout cable, however I can modify one of those cheap ebay cables

Regarding NTSC super nintendos, have found most TV’s don’t support NTSC 50hz however every SONY TV I have tried does support NTSC snes at 50hz. Also have had success by adding a 4.433619mhz oscillator to the video encoder, believe it was OMP that researched the fix for this issue.

Only own RGB cables for NTSC SNES, otherwise that would be a good test.

Thanks everyone, will try a pal cable

So you effectively make the ntsc consoles output in PAL, so you are using PAL50 and PAL60.

Facts about wiring still stands though, let us know how you get on

Hoping to have some time to tackle the issue this weekend. have the following things to check off, try a different PSU. if that fails look into the cable situation, thinking it might be easier to add the 75ohm resistor to the multiout. is it correct to add a grounded 75ohm resistor to pin 10 on the multiout?

And yeap a fellow aussie did the research and located the colour fix for NTSC snes. attached.

will update this weekend oh and looking forward to the 1chip supercic kit, have a snes mini i want to mod :)

Yep, connect pin 10 to ground using a 75 ohm resistor. If you decide to keep it there permanently, do not use a PAL Composite Video cable on that console. Not even sure if a RGB cable that uses sync on composite video would give trouble or not with the resistor already installed. You may have to remove the resistor from the RGB cable should you use one that uses sync on composite video.

thanks will give that ago, for troubleshooting it will be the easier than modifying an NTSC cable. can always take the resistor out and add to the cable later, or just buy the correct cable :)

have tried 75ohm resistor from pin 10 to ground, also tried a different power supply. unfortunately it didn't remove or improve the 60hz flickering. also tested on a few other TV's and had the same result. not really sure where to go from here, other than re do the mod.

motherboard version SNSP-CPU-02 with SNSP AUS on the RF module. Australia uses PAL-B/G, not sure if that is relevant but more information the better i guess.

    thanks
