So I recently bought a modded 3DO FZ-10 model with RGB output and a 240p switch. I soon discovered that it wasn't retaining saved games after it was switched off. I know these have an internal battery so I check with the modder who then told me they hadn't replaced it, so I figured that was the issue.

I've replaced the battery twice, with two different cells, and it still won't retain saves. They remain for up to about 10 seconds after switching the power off, but after that they get wiped.

Has anyone else had these issues? Am I missing something else that needs to be replaced? The memory chip seems to be fine since it still saves with the power on, and can retain it for a few seconds with the power off, but I'm not sure why the battery replacement isn't working.

    Any help or suggestions welcome!!

Was the battery replaced with a new CR2032? Was it installed the correct way around? Is there continuity between '+' on the Batt and pin 4 on IC400?

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, it's a new cr2032 I replaced it with. I used one with the same vertical PCB mount that FZ-10 uses (2 prongs on the +ve side and 1 on the -ve) so there's only one way round it can fit.

I can't check continuity right now as my multimeter decided to die last week, but once the new one arrives I'll try checking it with pin 4 on the IC400 as you suggested.

A multimeter will be needed in solving this one. Basically IC400 is the battery backup IC. When the power switches off, it supplies the battery power to maintain the SRAM (IC350).

There maybe a break in continuity between the Battery and pin4 on IC400 or between pin6 (IC400) and pin28 on IC350. Also check voltage on pin4 and pin6 when powered off.
