Unlikely but does anyone have a FZ-DR21 (or a FZ-21S1.. ho ho ho) that they be willing to sell to a museum for a touring game show that will be in Australia, Greece, Ireland, England and America (over the next 2 and a half years...). The cheaper the better but shoot me sensible offers/.

I am going to be doing this exact thing with my M2 hardware at the Classic Gaming Expo in Las Vegas at the end of July in the museum section of the show.

I wish you luck as M2 hardware availability really is not that great. Every once in a while an FZ-DR21 will show up (like a few days ago on Ebay), but those occurrences are usually not frequent.
LingJr has a dev setup he's been trying to sell for a while... not cheap though for what he is offering.

It's good that you are going to show off your hardware although there is a big difference between display an item for 3 days to an audience of gamers and showing an item for several years across many galleries and museums in the world to an audience of gamers, families and students.

I had some offer to hire me a FZ-21S1, but after a year it would have costing about $1500... so I politely declined. I need to buy it outright because of the long term nature of the show. I'd also take a FZ-35 just to display the technology but the FZ-DR21 drive unit alone looks prettier...)

You guys are really going all out. That sounds like a nice tour there. The most I've been able to do is a couple of local shows and then the CGE that's coming up as mentioned (which I still need to iron out).
Were you just looking for the drive itself (FZ-DR21), or pretty much anything that you can get your hands on (dev card, etc)?
I assume the drive, since it's what everyone thinks of when an M2 is mentioned.

Yes the drive itself is all I am really after as I know that it's the item that most people do have and as you say it's what most people think the M2 is.

I'm even willing to buy the drive for a reasonable price (ie a three figure dollar sum) and sell it back to the seller for the admin costs once the tour ends (although this could be between 3 to who knows when years...).

It's one thing that I find hard to do, trying to get semi rare stuff as collectors tend not to want to lend anything once I tell them the length of time the show might run or they want to "hire" it for a reasonable rate ignoring the fact that after a year or so the hire rate tends to be more expensive then what you could buy the item even from sellers like LingJr or they offer me items that makes LingJr look cheap...

The other thing is budget, although it's nice to show off something reasonablely rare there is no point paying too much for it as for example $3000 would buy me about 6 to 8 classic arcade games, a working Computer Space machine, 20 to 30 Xbox 360s, etc...
