According to Reuters the Jungle has been abandoned by Panasonic.

It's a shame, but at the same time, I wasn't impressed by it.

They realized if sony can't make it work, then what chance to they have.

So did any prototypes have any working software? Looks like a new holy grail for the rare forum :)

This headline made me think Panasonic had some secret jungle lair, like something out of James Bond :p

I hadn't heard of it, either. It looked fugly, though. A shame they didn't bring their "unique" idea to light, perhaps, but I don't think it's a huge loss. Maybe someone reminded them how hated the 3DO is :p

Releasing a handheld straight into the 3DS and PSP2 wouldn't have been the smartest move for the company, especially when people are questioning the merits of these devices in the face of gaming-capable smartphones.

I wish this invalidated my NDA so I could talk about it, but I'm not surprised.

It would probably flop but i guess the reason for it being cancelled was probably lack of devs interested on it.

Still, i miss the old days when lots of diffent consoles were available, no matter how rubbish they were. Nowadays is just too boring.

You me both, I used to love the competition it was both exciting and interesting whether it was a flop or not at the end of the day it was worth a try.

Now it's all about strict business profession no one will gamble and take risk assessments.

They (Panasonic) are using the same excuse they used with the Panasonic 3DO M2 bad management decision if you ask me.

I do admire Panasonic, for their ingenuity and product design although having said that this particular design did not appeal to me (Ladies and Gents I bring you the Jungle):

Because you can't take a gamble in the current economic climate.
