On the back of my new Q  it has the standard red/white/yellow out/connectors It also has "digital av out" I thought that a standard CUBE lead would fit, but it doesn`t, it has a little protrusion on the top I am 99% sure that my Japanese Cube is the same but it is in the loft/attic somewhere and I can`t be arsed to find it Is there somewhere I can find the correct lead?
The digital a/v output is for using the official Nintendo component cables to enable HD/ED output at 480p on certain games (ntsc ones only as pal games do not support it) you can pick the cables up for around £30-40 off fleabay usually, but if you have a hdtv or anything that supports component input the cables are well worth getting hold of as a lot of the games are supported (check out hdtvarcade.com for compatability list), also you still have to use the seperate phono cables for audio output, as the Digital a/v only outputs a video signal. Hope that helps! DD
One thing I was always curious about - why the hell do they call it a "digital a/v" output? Component isn't digital.
Yeah that gets annoying on the Wii. You go to play on the disc channel, then drop the Wiimote and hold B on the GC controller as soon as Nintendo appears (on Metroid Prime, anyways). Gets wearing.
What bothers me the most on the Wii is that the system menu is only interlaced - Using and LCD monitor for my gaming needs, it can only do progressive video signals without an expensive converter.
Never seen the connector to a tv like that before.....what would they fit (hmdi) or would I need another lead on the end of this?
Thats the one!, just hook it up to your component input, press B on boot and if the game supports it youll get beautiful prog scan on most games, you can also sometimes pick up modified cables with a scart terminal on, but i dont think many TVs support Progressive input through scart The D terminal cable is only really used in japan afaik, and is a speSPAM SPAM SPAM SPAMSPAM SPAM SPAM SPAMSPAM SPAM SPAM SPAMSPAM SPAM SPAM SPAMSPAM SPAM SPAM SPAMSPAM SPAM SPAM SPAMt port for progressive input, im sure someone else could explain it better than me, but for your use stick with the component cable
That would be the good old spam filter kicking in, try spelling spec ialist without the space and see what happenes!
I blame the Vikings - if anyone is a speSPAM SPAM SPAM SPAMSPAM SPAM SPAM SPAMSPAM SPAM SPAM SPAMSPAM SPAM SPAM SPAMSPAM SPAM SPAM SPAMSPAM SPAM SPAM SPAMt at this kind of thing, it's them!
I thought that the D-Terminal was a Japanese form of DVI and could be easily converted into your HDMI socket... but I saw I'm quite wrong; it's a "Y Pr Pb" in one socket. So yes, you only need the regular component cable.
