I have a Panasonic VT25, their flagship TV model from 2011. It has 2 USB ports on it, and I was trying to get a 5TB HDD connected to it (I've had luck with it playing flash drives). It wouldn't register it, so to make sure it wasn't me not naming directories incorrect (like with the PS3) I checked Panasonic's website for a tutorial on connecting devices. For "video game console" they STILL use a picture of a 3DO. They just can't seem to let that one go. Haha
They must be proud of the 3DO. I mean everybody who spent 700$ back in the day, should be proud for owning one.
Ha brilliant! Made me smile, brings back good memories, I need Road Rash. It is "their" console as such so I guess using that is better than endorsing another companies current gen machine. Not that much to be proud of though! More like clinging onto the past.
I don't understand why a manufacturer should hide everything from their past? In Nintendo jp you can see everything. It's their history. Some other like Microsoft, is the complete opposite. Is that fear of consumer confusion? They really consider their consumers that dumb? Or in United States the people will usually sue the manufacturer because of some unclear information on their website? This is a interesting thing to know.
Maybe they just used it because they already had the picture and they didn't have to worry about getting sued by console manufacturers, since it's their console. Alternatively, maybe it's supposed to be a joke.
Issue with that is, there was never an Xbox Two. People calling the Xbox, Xbox 1 are a bit special. Even though the name of the Xbox One is special at the same time, there just wasn't an Xbox Two to begin with. The name Xbox One isn't even on the console either, just Xbox. Why? I don't know. Trying to explain above was even confusing me. Hopefully I made sense. Probably not though. I think Nintendo also took the prize this year with New 3DS. It won't be NEW forever, and even people wanting a new 3ds, will be confused. The amount of parents I saw during christmas asking for one was annoying, 30 minutes trying to convince that it is infact a new item.
lol I get what you are saying, it was just an odd name. It makes people not in the know that it is not the first XBOX like the confusion with New 3DS as you stated or the Wii - Wii U debacle.
No one said that they should, it was just interesting to see a 3DO still mentioned - just visually. Obviously its because it's a non-generic console that Panasonic owns the right to and so they didn't have to use a stock photo from another company or advertise one of their competitors.
Because a lot of people came in looking for stuff for "the Xbox", like how the newest Playstation is just "the Playstation", same for Nintendo. I would usually call it Xbox 1 for a while, until mass market places (like Gamestop) stopped selling it, then at game shops just Xbox was fine.
It is in the screen shot. It is a flash animation too. ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/test/tv/How_to_Connect_Devices_to_your_TV.html
You really didn't read the post did you? It said when you are looking at info for connections on a modern TV it has a picture of a 3DO.
Calling the xbox the xbox was fine, until the xbox 360 came out. Anyone who played xbox 360 never said "im going to play xbox 360" they said "im going to play xbox". So when talking about the original xbox, you had to say xbox 1 or original xbox. That is why calling the xbox one the xbox one is stupid and you argument is pretty pointless. I dont hear you complaining about people calling the Playstation the PS1 after all, which was also retroactively named to avoid confusion.
One or 360 in my house, my son and I have both, he mostly plays on the One and I still use the 360 90% of the time.
