And yet all they seem to do these days is re-release their retro library for every device that has a screen.

I thought Orta was just a remake of the first game?

The first Panzer Dragoon is included in Orta as a bonus.

I haven't heard much about that since the videos started disappearing. Hope that guy got in some trouble at Sega over it.

Not at all, completely different games.

Yea, too bad the port sucked.

When corporations go down it can be very chaotic, I wouldnt be surprised if those tapes with the code were misplaced and thrown away with old papers and other junk.

But does it matters? PDS was a game that IMHO should have been made for the Dreamcast instead, and it would have helped that console a lot as a launch game

PDS on the Saturn has aged terribly, the textures are pixelated, the models are very low-poly and the FMVs are just horrible.

Releasing an emulated version would only make the game look bad, while a AAA remake could relaunch the franchise and sell tons of copies.

Change PDS to Burning Rangers, and those are my sentiments.

Burning Rangers, like NiGHTs, exists only because Sonic Team was trying to figure out how to make Sonic work in 3D. I'm sure Burning Rangers could have been better optimized for the Saturn than it was, but it represents the relative speed Sonic Adventure would have been on the system I think. It also shares some key gameplay mechanics such as the jump physics and double jump. I think Gun Valkyrie was to be the Dreamcast version of Burning Rangers and it just got a little long in the tooth.

I don't know why Sega wouldn't have bothered porting over late generation Saturn games to the Dreamcast though, that should have been relatively easy to do. Judging from Shenmue though, they seem to have been too obsessed with maximizing the performance on the new hardware so quick ports were out of the question.

I think Sonic Team were bored with doing Sonic games, which is why the brand was handed over to STI. Sonic X-treme would have come out but unfortunately they didn't have the management/political skills to achieve it. Pushing on with the PC as the lead platform was their biggest mistake.

Sonic 3d World in Sonic Jam was amazing. I don't see how that couldn't have been expanded into a full game.
