I've posted stuff about this topic in other threads, but I thought this new question deserved a new thread. I'm trying to make a SCART adapter for my Sony PVM. Basically, I'm trying to splice a 25-pin d-sub ("parallel") connector together with a SCART cable. I already have pinouts for each. The problem is this: Upon cutting open the parallel cable and stripping the wires, I ran a volt-meter through it to determine which wires led to each pin. I found, oddly enough, that not only do individual pins lead to multiple different cables, but also that individual cables run to multiple pins! This doesn't make sense. How should I know which cables to solder? I can't just pick one, because it might be connected to the same pin as another and then that would cause a short-circuit. I suspect I am doing something wrong or I don't understand how parallel cables work. Can somebody shed some light on this dilemma?
You should just get vanilla connectors, some wire, and make your own. There are very detailed instructions in a thread here in Off Topic. I started it... just search for PVM. It should be much easier. You will not find converter on the market
