I've experienced something similiar with DHL. DHL was delaying delivering my package for a few days and I needed the item fast so I drove to their storage and just picked my stuff up there. When I arrived, the whole storehouse was open, and unattended! There was no single person in proximity of half a mile. I could literally come with a truck, load everything and just go away, with impunity. It's ludicrous!

You have me worried now, by the way. I've been sent a prototype recently through Royal Mail... If what you're saying is true... I hope there will be no trouble.

Maybe it's not a lost cause. I had a package get lost from Tokyo to London somewhere between it clearing customs and getting to a depot in London. 8 weeks later it arrived back in Tokyo with an "invalid address" sticker.

The address on the parcel was 100% correct, in English, large font and printed on a huge label. Someone in RM can't read. There is hope it could turn up.

As for proof of purchase, this may be worth a shot depending on what details you have. The ebay auction shows the value that the market it willing to pay. Back this up with a variety of other TOOL auctions over the past month or so.

Then, and here's hoping, provide some photo evidence showing the TOOL in your possesion (I mean the seller) prior to the auction. With both these pieces of information you may be able to convince RM that the item that was packeged is really that item and with that value.

Along with this tell them that you no longer have the original receipt due to some sob story/the transaction being a long time ago.

This method worked for an ex boss of mine for something far more expensive than a TOOL.

    Good luck.

Wow, after reading this, i'm really glad i received my XDK when i bought it last year. It came internationally, from England, to the US, It took 3 weeks, and it was held by customs, but I finally received it...

After reading this, i don't think i'll ever get something shipped w/ parcel force.

I worked at Parcel Force briefly one summer inbetween years at Uni. They had some big gorilla guy there who would unload the trucks, and periodically some of the other hulking great blokes would hold contests about how far they could throw the heavy packages into the trucks. Several times Televisions were thrown about (in their packaging) with an obvious end result. Big expensive televisions that were presumably being delivered to some poor guy who had to take the day off work to sign for it when it arrived.

Never use Parcel Force for delicate items, and always get a certificate of postage for anything you care about.
