How did you all get into Game Development? I mean I am thinking of collecting this and I understand it can be expensive. My wonder is how did you all start out? Are any of you working for game houses? I am sorry if this has been asked before. GAMEFAN
I worked in several games development companies for about 10 years on many, many platforms from 8 bit to the last generation (PS2 and the others). Now I am not in the games industry anymore, but I still enjoy some homebrew development when I am not too busy. Cheers, Jollyroger
There's some members here that are developing games for game houses, yes. But most of them dislike to talk about it. Why? Well, there's alot of prototype talking here, as an exemple, and they're simply not authorised to talk about them, normally. That's why some of them like discretion. Anyway, Not everyone are game makers here, either.
Not all of us are into development; however, all of us ARE into collecting, and for some that extends into the realm of collecting (and even using!) dev equipment. The way to get the hook-up for most of the hardware is just keeping your eyes open and your contacts many - members occasionally try to sell dev-related gear in our marketplace here, and if you're quick, you can sometimes find rarities (blank official CD-Rs, GD-Rs, and Katana devkits being the most common) on eBay before their Nazi division pulls the auctions. Odds are, if you've got a question about it, someone here can answer it, so ask away.
