Thanks for all the support guys. PayPal restored my account today after I had provided hem with links to all of my sales threads here at ASSEMblergames. Once again, thanks again for the support from the community. Yakumo
^^ still.. after the headache you experienced, prudence takes priority! will you put yourself through all that again? .... for what it's worth, good to know they got off their overpaid arses and remedied the situation! (they still have a LOT of good to do to offset the misery they've caused!) ... [edit] .....
I kept calm, positive and polite throughout the whole ordeal. I guess that helped a lot. @amiga1200, I'm going to be looking in to other methods of payment for the future but the problem is that customers want what's most convenient for them and for many that's just logging in to Paypal and sending over the cash. But I will use other methods when possible.
I think everyone needs to be headed this direction. I can't use Paypal for a lot of reasons right now. I know for some customers not having Paypal is a deal breaker but honestly I'm to the point where I hate paypal so much that it is less of a loss for me. Obviously using Money Orders and Bitcoins isn't a real alternative. It works especially when you have a motivated buyer that trusts you. One method I'm looking at using in the future is Amazon payments. I'm even considering starting a little site that will be focused on peddling my stuff. Basically we all need to be working on using other payment methods if we ever want to be free from Paypal. /end rant @yakumo for you specifically I would make sure not to sell any of those items through paypal anymore at the very least. When you sell modchips state that paypal is not available for payment on that stuff and try to use something else. In any case I'm glad this worked out for you and would still reccomend paypal stealth since a good portion of the book is how to not raise flags with paypal.
Basically I had a payment sent to my PayPal account with "3DS flash card" in the message with the payment. PayPal saw this and closed mg account and kept my money and even went as far as saying they were looking in to how much I'd have to pay in penalties. After a week of mails and countless screen grabs, URL links and so on to prove I'm not a mass flash card dealer I finally got my account back . it seemed that I wouldn't at one point but keeping clam, civil and polite sure helped move things in to my favour I think.
I never sold flash cards I had to show that I sold many various items that were all legit. I guess they wanted to see if I was basically a dealer in counterfeit goods.
This no doubt will do nothing to stem the flood of Paypal FUD threads that seem to show up fairly regularly. The "horror stories" dave from the pub talks about will continue to show up
Why would it? There is definitely a trend here for Paypal sellers especially. You can call it FUD but there is a reason they pop up all the time.
