I'm not one for bothering much about things but this has really annoyed me so much.

I've had paypal for a while now and i've used it for buying off ebay quite a few times and had no problems but i've never used it for anything else more than once, so today i wanted to get a 1 month premium account for rapidshare since i was downloading a lot of mods and stuff from there so i clicked on the paypal link and entered my login details and then hit pay now only to be told the following:

This payment cannot be completed because your credit card has been refused by your credit card issuer.

I have Switch/Maestro card and when i logged into my online banking it said for my current account, Balance:xx.xx Available: xx.xx so i have funds available. I see when i use ebay and pay with paypal I have no trouble getting money from my account.

it might be the expiry date, happened to me once, updated the expiry date and everything was fine again.

I had the same problem. When my CC company issued me a new credit card, I tried to update my info in Paypal and it said the card was refused. The CC company had called my home and sent a letter, both basically saying that your CC is fine, but you have to telephone in to enable Paypal purchases. I guess it's a security hassle/precaution on their part because a lot of online CC fraud is probably perpetrated through PayPal.

(Jeez, I feel like Sylvester Cat...)

Some banks use filtering, you need to contact your bank in order to disable it.
