PayPal have been fucking me over long enough and now I feel I must do something about it. I'll show you three examples this month; 1) I sold a guy Dragon Force on the Saturn for a total of £70 via eBay. THREE days after I post the game PayPal take the money from me saying that the guy never recieved the game. That's bullshit. I have reciepts. -£70 2) I bought Mario Sunshine from a guy on eBay for 12. I played the game for about 1 hour before seeing that some of the levels wouldn't load because there was a big scratch on the disc. I return the game to him. He pretends game is ok, i don't get my £12 back. -£82 3) Finnaly, I sell a very rare saturn for £180 + £44 shipping to Canada. PayPal eMail me saying that the money was taken from a 'hacked' account. PayPal take the money from me whiles my Saturn makes it's way to Canada. -£224 TOTAL -£376 / $702.32 That's a lot of money PayPal stole from me. For nothing. I have called, e-mailed - even fucking written to them. It's becoming quite clear that they are not going to give me a penny back. So, nextime you buy something on eBay, use anything but PayPal. Really, PayPal is even less safe than sending cash in the mail. Tony PS, perhaps now you can see why I was a little more annoying/pissed off this month than usual ;-)
Well if you had the recipts and sent the stuff in a way paypal would agreee with (whateevers in the T&C) then they would give you the cash back.... i did once get paid with a stolen account and i managed to get them to give me credit when i ended up having to pay them more then i was originaly paid because of currency conversion after i took more then a few months to pay them back. (if that makes sence) oh and ive moved this to the OT forums!
www.paypalsucks.com paypal is on the verge of criminal, ill never ever use it again, closed my business account with them loooongtime ago after having simular problems to those listed above.
Haven't had any problems with them, but no doubt they will be sub poenaed and all that good shit quite soon. Simply put, they steal, they cheat, their business practices are ridiculous and unethical, and on the whole, they are cockmunchers.
I'm in a dodgy dialema too with paypal because I have a buyer that is using a different delivery address to what the card is registered to, and when that happens you are no longer ilegible for sellers protection policy, I have sent a few emails to them about it and you get Mr Tithead robot letter back just saying what the t&c's say, I challenged that I didn't want to say to my buyer "hey bitch I think you're a fraud so I'm not gonna send to the address you gave me" and asked them how I should approach a buyer under these circumstances, it's not that it's about trust either, which I don't have an issue with, but I'd rather all parties be at least insured, that includes the seller and buyer, the buyers seems to be insured upto a certain amount regarding fraud anyway, so if the seller sends the items to a confirmed address the seller is protected too, and paypal actually take note regarding signed for packages etc, as their policy states they side with the buyer in this case obviously because it costs them money then, I also mentioned to them they have the same policies as ebay (being the same company and all that) in that they don't give a flying toss about buyer or seller as long as they get their percentage, infact you only have to look on ebay to see how they care about piracy etc, they thrive on it because it's revenue for them So, to sum up that pish I just wrote: 1) Try to come to some arangment about delivering to a confirmed address (I know this isn't always easy because of work commitments etc) 2) Put in all future bids that you will only accept paypal from people with confirmed addresses and not to bid if you don't plan on doing so 3) I don't know, it's 2:20am and my eyes hurt but I'm sure I have enough fuel here, don't forget you also get some form of protection frmo ebay themselves, so you should try looking at coupling the crapyness. And finally to Funkstar, you should talk to citizens advice, as paypal have to follow the UK banking code for you and they will tell you any useful information for them paying up refunds etc. also it's worth while not to register direct debit, but to register a CC or so, at least then you can have you CC company fight paypal for the unauthorised wthdrawel yeeehahhaaa, longest post ever -peace. :smt014
umm thats a good point... i might register my cc with them instead..! But noooo thats so wrong... ill go to ebay and not have any self control....
How's Bidpay? I agree that Paypal is fucked. I for the most part only sell cheap stuff through them, or to people I know (or in happy, lovely forum communities such as this one!)
Yeah, after all the horror stories I've heard with 'em I'd only use PayPal with people I know (or kinda know, like here ^_^). So far I've just used cash or sterling drafts with eBay
Bidpay is expensive for an ass money order service. I don't think anything competes with PayPal today, if you're cautious all problems can be resolved. I've been using PayPal since 2000 and haven't had a problem, hehe but in case I've also changed my bank account I'm addressible with.
Banking is one of Japan's many mysteries. They've got by far the easiest way to send money to anyone (no need for Paypal unless you want to send money abroad) yet it takes an act of god to find a 24 hour ATM machine.
I've had paypal since 2000 with no problems what so ever. I have heard all the horror stories but I am shocked you can't get money back on 2 of your problems. I know a guy who got full reimbursment on a naomi GD game that the seller did not include the Security chip (even though he said it was there) (with out the SC, a naomi game is worthless). As well providing you have the reciepts and have a tracking number on them, you can show proof of shipment on items 1 & 3. Truthfuly since getting into paypal. I don't really feel comfortable to recieve money orders anymore (specialy since it will cost me $$ to get it cashed into my bank since i am in canada).
