hop-m3 laser replacement i got two lasers from china and the discs are spinning but still will not read a music cd or a game i am thinking the lasers are a dud the lasers look used plus the old one looks better i did adjust the old one only loaded games for two days and stoped reading. out of all systems i fix this one has got to be the hardest one. its not my unit its a mates unit i have replaced all caps i have checked everything any ideas where to buy a laser that works or could i post the lasers i have to have them tested on a working system. thanks.
Are they brand new lasers? This may seem like a stupid suggestion but have you checked for anti-static points that need to have solder removed? Every "new" laser I've bought for an older console has had one or more of these points with solder shorting a point to, presumably, prevent the laser from dying a death en-route due to static. I don't think you'd see any problems beyond the laser not firing if you didn't remove one or more of these.
Laser did fire up and spin as if it was going to load i did check that before i send the lasers back for a refund i will order them else where once refunded. If you can show a picture where a anti staic ponit is on a HOP-M3 is. Do know about anti static ponit on most lasers i replaced a few mega cd lasers and multi mega/cdx lasers.
I replaced my laser in my PCE Duo and it was plain plug and play. I did take me some time to find a HOP-M3 for a reasonable price though...
