hi , I never used a tg16 as a kid because it was never famous in my country unlike snes & md , however I really want one now, and by assessing options I found that a moded gt is the best choice for me, but I have a few questions: 1- I have noticed that external controller mod replaces the original com port, so I can't at least connect the tv tuner, etc, so is it possible to add the controller port from bottom for example or the other side? or does it use the points on board of the original port? and does it require any additional on board chips etc? 2- iam also interested in the av out mod, essential to me, so does it necessarily need the chip of the 3.5 lcd ? or does it do av out from the motherboard directly? in other words do I have to do the 3.5 lcd mod to get tv out? 3- can it do rgb scart out? 4- region free mod, is it a chip or wires ? 5- I saw a person playing it by a cell phone battery which is just 3.5v i think, so does it work with just 3.5v although it uses about 6 batteries, i.e. 9 v ? thanks alot
1. The TV tuner is analog so unless you live in a country where those stations are still present then it is totally useless. Go ahead and put the controller port there if you want one. 2. The actual COM PORT is on the bottom and that's where the AV mod tends to be done. I don't remember if it's a chip and replacement of the jack itself, sorry. 3. There is an RGB screen mod available but rather exclusive last time I looked it up because the creator didn't sell outside of Japan. As for the SCART out specifically, that should be possible but you would probably be among the first to commission it. 4. Not too sure on this one but I assume the same rules apply for the console versions (Japan GT: ground a pin and swap some cart leads, US Express: just swap cart leads. 5. You're probably mistaken on the 3.5v operation. The battery leads are in series so 9v is what the unit expects.
excellent and informative reply , however just 2 comments: regarding av port , i saw it installed on left side. regarding region, I saw a mod in which he had to press some buttons not on off switch to switch region , I don't want a permanent change of region, iam looking for some selector in fact. thnx
