    Guys,
My PC Engine was working fine, but has just started to glitch (I am assuming it is the system, and not the HuCards as it happens on a number of games).

I did an RGB mod on it a few weeks back, but have been using it fine until PC Genjin 2 arrives in the post a few days ago and glitched first (see below), now it seems to be spreading.

    It has the following problems on the games I have tested;
Ninja Spirit: Ninja will not move (if you press left or right on the pad he faces in that direction), when I jump he becomes a flickering sprite 'between' animation.
Parasol Stars: Jailbars and corruption on the title and planet screen, ingame is fine.
PC Genjin 2: Works until you get to the fist rockface on the second part of the first level, then the screen splits into four smaller screens with the same image(!), and it freezes.

Yet on other games (New Zealand Story, Final Soldier) it works fine!

I don't have another system to test, is there a way I can definatley say one way or another if it is the system or the games. What is going on???
    Please help me!
    Cheers,
    Paul

Do you have any details of the mod you did?

Are you sure you did not accidentally bridge pins or leave
    solder balls rolling around?

What wattage iron did you use?

    Pics of the inside too.

Can't get a pic up at the moment as I am just off to work - the Mod was done about six weeks ago and I have slowly got a small collection of HuCards to play on the system.

None of them had an issue until PC Genjin 2 crashed when I first played it a couple of nights ago, it crashed in exactaly the same spot five times in a row!
Then Parasol Stars and Ninja Spirit that played fine midweek developed issues when I went to play them.

I am certain it is not the mod as I followed the directions, used the correct soldering iron and did a very tidy job, plus the fact it has been fine for over a month!

I am pretty sure it is a RAM issue, but without another PCE to test the games I can't be sure, I tried everything last night and over half of my games (around 8/14 HuCards) have glitching or graphic faults of some description. It does not matter if the console has been on for a while, or just switched on...

    Cheers,
    Paul

consistent errors (every time) would indicate some sort of hard error , yeah.

Ok, well I managed to bag a boxed Core Grafx on eBay for £40 which is in really nice shape, and thankfully all the glitching games now work fine...

    ...except PC Genjin 2!

The fault it displayed on my old PCE is the same on this new system, get onto the second part of level one, and just before the rock-face it splits into four screens with the same image on them!
As this was the first issues I had on the old system, and I played it over a number of times to see if it would glitch each time, I am concerned that maybe it caused the problem with my original PCE.

This sounds crazy, as I am sure that a cart based game would not be able to physically break a console, but I am not willing to play it over on my new machine to see if I am right!

What does everyone else think? Anyone else ever come across a cart that seems to be bugged (not in the sense that it needs a patch, either!) in the same place on a number of systems?

It is certainly possible for a cart to go bad. Not common, but possible.
