    Hi Everyone, first post here.

I recently purchased a white PCE from a UK seller on ebay, When I first tried to use it via the RF output I got picture but no sound. The seller assured me that the sound was fine when tested and that it must be a problem with the Japanese RF signal and my UK PAL Trinitron.
We agreed that the RGB mod should solve the issue, which I had intended to do anyway. When I opened the console I discovered a messy looking mod attached to the RF unit, which I next found out was a PAL RF modular (Seller denied any knowledge but seemed to be knowledgeable with regards to console modding previously, even offered to RGB mod it for me).
On closer inspection I found that a few things were missing next to the RF Unit, I carried on with the RGB mod optimistically in the hope that it might still work.
Big surprise the mod doesn't work lol (just get a black screen), I am thinking it's probably because of the missing parts.
Can anyone help me with this, Found info on a capacitor (16v 470uf) which is usually removed for the pre existing RF mod but my board looks slightly different to examples I've seen and I seem to be missing much more than just teh cap.

Thanks a lot for the link, but I just can't seem to find the info I need. Been waiting for my account to be approved on pcenginefx for a while now.
This pic from mmmonkey.co.uk is one of the few I found which is the same as my board, the items I outlined in red are what seem to be missing. I have no idea what is under the silver casing. There are also a couple of the small resistors missing from the underside of the board.

That silver box looks like the master oscillator; if that was missing it would definitely explain the problems you're having. The value for the oscillator is 21.4772 MHz.

Thank you, that was a big push in the right direction....just can't seem to find a source for one yet.
The first link makes more sense to me now, so thanks again for that. @ gorgyrip

No problem. There was another topic, but i can't remember. That part seems to be a coil (hope it's the right word).

    the 'coil' could be inductor.

It looks like an inductor to me, it's essentially a wire with a couple of small ferrite beads attached.

The last thing I need to identify are the two missing melf resistors on the underside of the board R137 & R138:

If you could, that would be awesome. I've been trying to find a high resolution image that I could tell the banding from but so far no luck...and for the inductor I'm going to get something like these as I can't find anything like the stock ones: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5x-Radial...mponents_Supplies_ET&var=&hash=item3cc37ae6a9 ..just not sure what inductance value to choose as the other ones on the board have no marking by which to tell the value.

    R137 is 6.2K ohm and R138 is 8.2K ohm.

Thank you both so much for your effort, hugely helpful! :tears_of_joy:
I just need to figure out the inductor value and then I'll update the thread once I get it working.
The inductor's are all labeled L101-L104 etc on the board, I wonder if that's an indication that they are 100uH inductance or probably it's irrelevant.

May be a board reference number not inductor value. I'd check but I don't have anything that can check henry value of inductors.
