I have a PC-Engine, Core Grafx and Core Grafx II systems on their way to me and am wanting to RGB mod them, from what i understand the best method is using the THS7314 chip but i have also seen these pre made RGB amp PCB kits but i cant seem to find where to order a few from. Is there a site that supply's these kits at all? Also is it the same method to mod all 3 revisions of the system for RGB (PCE, grafx and grafx 2)??
http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/fs-pce-turbografx-rgb-amps-cables-and-rgb-modded-consoles.56269/ If you don't mind replacing the rf port. Or you can make a cable which interfaces with the expansion port at the back but then you lose IFU support.
Like Kappa said, you have to make a cable for it. I've seen some parts online that may work with the expansion port but that is for external connection. If you want internal install, just solder to those points on the exp. port as it should be easier than soldering to a chip. If you get a CD drive for it, you could always install the mod in the CD drive itself so you get both CD support and RGB without modding the PC-E itself.
So now its recommended to grab the R,G and B lines from the expansion connector on the rear of the system instead of the chip on the mainboard??. Is there a parts list of whats needed for the mod?, i know i need.... THS7314 chip SOIC-8 adapter 8 Pin mini-din but what, caps and resistors are needed please?
If I had to guess, probably 220uf caps as that seems to be what almost every console needs in a RGB SCART/JP-21 cable. That's my guess though, it may not be correct.
Someone used to sell those amp boards here on the forums. I've personally tried to get RGB out of a TG-16 and never got the damn thing to give me a solid picture. Always was too dark or too bright. I'd suggest using a prebuild board if you have even a single doubt of your ability to nail this on the first try.
I still have them for sale on here: http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/fs-pce-turbografx-rgb-amps-cables-and-rgb-modded-consoles.56269/ BlockABoots found me on another forum already though.
THS7314 not works alone. You need to build a pre-amp before THS7314. You can tap RGBS directly from the HU6260.
