    30th October 1987: Shanghai & Bikkuriman World
21st November 1987: The Kung Fu ( even if it is Hudson Vol.1, and first game "created/developped", its release was 3 weeks after the 2 1st games)
30th November 1987: Kato Chan Ken Chan / JJ & Jeff
    28th December 1987: Victory Run

    That's all for 1987!

Amazing that it was so popular.

The Kung Fu was the first PC Engine project. This big project was to show capacities of PCE but the game was not finished for the 30 october.
For me The Kung Fu is the first PCE game, and Shanghai & Bikkuriman World were the launch games.
Yes Wheelaa !! Kato is really a great game !!

In ye early days of gaming, people seemed to be less fussed about having tons of games to play. The Famicom had less games in it's first 18 months then the Xbox 360 had in a month...

    Agreed!
Famicom really started producing great games in 1985,when it came out in 1983..

For me SFC had the most "prolific"first year of production...it's incredible how many hits were released within 1 year...i'm talking about quality, not quantity!

The Kung fu looked awesome, such huge sprites - but how long after did R-Type come? The notion that this little Japanese box could be nearly as good as the actual arcade machine was what really got me hooked on Japanese imports.

21st November 1987: The Kung Fu
    25th March 1988: R-Type 1

    Between those two came out:
    22nd January 1988: Necromancer
    5th February 1988: Youkai Dochuuki

it's amazing that the PC-Engine came out in fall 1987 and that I didn't know existed until spring 1989, along with the majority of gamers in the U.S. who got their news from game magazines. I first heard of this machine from VG&CE.

Conversly the launch games for the CD-ROM2 unit were average at best... anyone want to list them (and while your at it do the Super CD-ROM2 games and the Arcade CD titles too).

The first 2 games released with PC Engine CD Rom in December 1988 were Fighting Street (Street Fighter 1) & Noriko...then came out Altered Beast,Red Alert,etc...Ys 1&2 came out many months later, in 1989...
Still,it was astonishing to play Ys 1&21 with CD quality musics when most of the world was playing NES games...

    I'll make accurate list later

Wonderboy III must have been one of the first CD games.
