Has anyone tried modding a PC-FX console to output in RGB Scart?, rather than the standard NTSC Composite and Svideo.
I remember looking in to this myself but never found any information, looks like nobody (at least in the west) has looked in to this.
Damn, guess I'll just have to take the thing apart and see if theres a standard video encoder chip or somesuch I can get pinouts for.
It isn't possible - you'd be wasting your time to take it apart, and from what I gather they are quite compact little things - not a particularly easy task to reassemble afterwards!
Not that hard to take apart - though there is a lot of shielding and plastic. Check out the disassembly guide at NFG. I too don't think there would be any diagrams, though you might want to ask Lawrence at NFG.
Try this link for the disassembly guide: http://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?topic=1305 Not that much of a guide though, more like pictures from when it was opened up..
I've realised the downstairs TV will do NTSC in colour through composite, so I wont bother with opening up the crazy console.
I'm not sure why they reckon its such a chore to dis assemble. Just because theres more than 4 screws... They should try taking a Tool apart....
The PC-FX uses an updated VCE(HuC6261) like the one in the PC-Engine(HuC6260. It should be possible to grab RGB from the chip (on the PCE it outputs both RGB and Composite from this chip).
