Alright, my mother has a friend with a seven year old with asperger's syndrome. The kid is really into games, and mostly plays on the PC. I also understand he has a DS. Anyway, my mom asked me if I could give the kid some games to play. I don't really have anything to give him for the DS, but I have a heap of games on my PC. I have all of the old LucasArts Adventure games on here, including Grim Fandango and the Monkey Island games, but I'm not sure if those are appropriate for a kid that age, both in content and difficulty. Although I have never played it, I also hear The Neverhood is very good as well. I don't want to give my mom crappy Jump Start-ish games to give to him, but good, solid games. Any other suggestions?
If he's played modern games I'd say the chances of him sticking through an old point and click adventure game are slim. I'll throw in a vote for Crayon Physics Deluxe. Really compelling game.
I know they are old now but as a kid I loved Theme Park and Theme Hospital they were fun back in the day and I actually went on Theme Hospital other day for first time in years still a good laugh though. I'd recommend them
The Incredible Machine! Seriously, if that kid has Asperger, he's going to be in haven if you give him that game.
I agree with that whole heartedly, cause I have Aspergers too. Hell what about Tetris and its clones on the pc ? I mean there are tons of great "free/abandonware" games that the kid will love in my mind. Check out this thread for some inspiration http://assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1629
The Neverhood is an awesome game. There is a little - very mild and cartoony - violence, but unless his parents are really ultra-protective of him I don't think it would be a problem. It's also the kind of game that might easily bore someone who's used to modern games. It's really fun, though, and the music and art style are really cool.
Yea, I should probably check Abandonia. I just got my hands on The Neverhood, and it's really fun. It has the sort of goofy art style that will be great for a kid.
Hey you tosser, I am one of those aspies, who was diagnosed, before iut was became a fucking "popdiagnose". So you better wake the fuck up.
Hey you dimwit, what are you babbling about ? What ever man, you are really just the resident asshole. Rolpa sorry for derailing your thread. But it looks like you have been smacked by our resident asshole aka. GoH. who has not read many of the OLD threads where I told about my past. Second of all, I was diagnosed with AS, when I was 11, and I went through the Danish psychiatric system until I was 18. So yeah, I do have AS, and I am now 28, so it is a long ass time, since I was 11
