My old pc (RIP) died a couple weeks back. I need the file from my old HD transfered to my new PC. There is no chance of running windows on it since I kinda corrupted the core windows files. Is there any way I could use knoppix or another live cd to copy files from one hd to another?

    o_O ?

Why not reinstall on that second HDD and then just copy over whatever you happen to want?

Since you didn't think of this, me thinks you don't know what jumpers are. Look on the HD. There sould be something that says "Single, Master, Slave" and a drawing, denoting what position the jumper should be in. Change it to slave, and stick it on the middle connector on your HD cable. It should pop up as your D:\drive. From there, drag and drop.
