    Hey Everyone,

I know some Sega Saturn units come with a PC-Trap board between the Motherboard and the CD-ROM. It was thought that this was done as an anti-modboard measure, since simply removing it works just fine. However, does anyone actually know what it does? If indeed it was used for blocking modboard use, was it just to make installations more confusing, or did it actively block authentication in some way?

I'm surprised no one has done more research on the subject. I know if you try to insert a modboard on a particular side (Forget which), it won't work and the PC-Trap appears to stop it from working. But back in the day, people just removed the PC-Trap all together and everything worked as expected. I'm not sure what kind of issues the PC-Trap was supposed to fix, if any.
