PETA people and their pushy opinions

Number 1 - I'm not "new" here. Sure, I've only just begun posting - but I've been reading these boards for several years. I had an account on the OLD forums and just never made a new one when it changed over like two years ago. I've read your posts, along with many others for a very long time. I just don't post very often.

Beyond that, whether I were truly new or not, post number seniority has no bearing on this off topic forum. I will not silence myself on a real life view simply because the number under your name is higher.

Sorry friend, but you've made it a "vegetarian vs. meat eater" debate with ridiculous comments like the one above. Many vegetarians, as I said, are members of PETA but do not necessarily value the rights of animals like others do. PETA members are stupid? Maybe you're stupid for judging and poking fun at views you don't share and a lifestyle that you do not lead.

Sharp sense of humor you've got as well. You recited an acronym of something you had read on the internet.

Controversial and usually hilarious comedians "push the limits". You simply embarassed somebody by reciting somebody else's old joke.

Again, I implore you to show more tact next time.

 

It took a little longer than I expected, but it looks like this topic is going to spiral out of control if you guys are not careful. I think that we can do without the personal insults and return to discussing PETA since for the life of me, I cannot understand how any logical person can support such an organization.

 

If that scenario happened to me, the next day I would show up in class with the biggest hambuger I could possibly find, like one of those 1/2 six dollar burgers, and then sloppily (and loudly) eat it in front of the guy. Then I would let out a huge burp, make sure that BBQ sauce and stuff was all flying out of my mouth. That's what I would do.

 

That's incredibly rude and insensitive...

Why do we poke such mean fun? Because there is clearly a double-standard in effect. Traditional epicurians are often subject to harassment on these issues both in person, with aggressively outspoken examples like in AWS' original post, or in a roundabout manner such as PETA often employs. Remember the 'Meat Is Murder' slogans? By logical extension, wouldn't that make meat-eaters - AlienWorkshop, myself, and anyone else who can't resist the allure of a juicy New York - murderers?

In some circles, that could pass for slander.

And yet it's often not okay to crack 'People Eating Tasty Animals' jokes.

This topic was never an attack on vegetarian lifestyles until it was forcibly dragged into that arena - it was all about those wacky, militant rascals at PETA. So let's keep the namecalling and the "you're making fun of me for being a vegetarian" martyrdom to a minimum and keep to the topic at hand.

Sorry, but no I didn't. I made a post about PETA, its idiotic members, and how laughable of an organization it is. My comments were directed toward PETA and its members. Just because someone is a vegetarian doesn't mean they are a member of PETA.

Again, I said I have a sense of humor and I can make jokes, I didn't say I was a hilarious comedian. My "recital of an acronym of something I read on the internet" (Truth is, I have never been to the site before, and didn't know about it until I made this thread and someone mentioned it. I heard the acronym from a friend and thought it was funny) seemed to make everyone laugh (sans the PETA guy of course), so it wasn't all bad. You're just making stupid assumptions when you don't know jack shit of what you're talking about.

I have in all sincerity been using these boards as a source of information for a very long time. I still access the forums through the roarvgm site as force of habit.

Regardless, I'm done arguing about this. There's no point and believe or not I never intended to offend. Had we spoken about this in person I'm sure we could have a less abrasive conversation.

 

Things like this happen from time to time, but the reason we are all here is to discuss about videogames, both obscure/rare and regular ones.
