I played with my promo stuff for 2 weeks. I checked a lot of videos and did some test in ripping some of my promotion DVDs. The first one I ripped is Phantasy Star Universe Promo DVD (JPN). I thought some of you could be interested in it (high quality video). So is there any interest in it ? If so, I will share it with the community. And I will probably rip some other ones.
I'd like to see it. Is the footage from the PS2 version or the PC version? You can generally tell the difference by the size of the HUD items, since they tend to jack up the resolution of the PC version to make it look better.
I think both are covered. The length of the video is 6:43. You have 3 parts: - first part is the same as http://illuminus.phantasystaruniverse.jp/movie/pv_01.html - second part is another footage not found on the psu site - third part is the ps2 ad, same as http://illuminus.phantasystaruniverse.jp/movie/cm_01.html But all with DVD quality video instead of the tiny video from the psu site.
I remember this. There were loads of these floating around before the supposed February release... then... the date got pushed back like half a year or something. Such a build up to crap, too.
What, you didn't like the game? I was playing on and off since the launch, but my interest got renewed with the expansion since they brought back a lot of the interesting stuff from PSO. There's also a rumor that PVP functions will get tested out in March on the Japanese servers before getting the full bore treatment in the west. You should give it another shot if you still have the client lying around.
Too little, way, way, way too late. I actually rejoined for Famitsu Cup (Japanese client, Japanes timezone, Japanese servers) and enjoyed it for about 5 days, then cancelled my license. Everyone was way higher than me, and I just hated the synthesizing bullshit. I'd much rather invest 30 minutes at a time playing a game that requires you to level the player (myself in this case) instead of level the character. As such, I've been playing PCBs and arcade-at-heart games. I 1CC'ed God Mode of Mushihime-sama Futari: Black Label, so I'm kind of swinging my dick around on that front these days. I *do* however pop onto Japanese Blue Burst servers from time to time, for old times sake. I think I'm just too old for online games now. With PSO, there's a few thousand hours of history there, so it's still somewhat fun, although burn out is a huge understatement. EDIT: I see they brought mags back. Interesting. Leaving those out was a massive mistake. The only mistake ST didn't fix is there annoying ability to unlock shit at a snails pace. I basically paid 6800 yen for 1/10 of a game. A month later, I had 2/10 of a game.
Pssh, yeah right...the day you log on that again is the day I jump off a cliff. But, to stay on topic, I saw that quite some time ago... And, as GaijinPunch stated, "Such a build up to crap, too. " was the best way to put it.
Play nice, you two. Just to say something positive in contrast, I'm finding the ability to change class at will (for a fee) the best part of the new game. Having some class ability as a prerequisite for other uber classes is a neatly challenging feature. Being able to balance the uber class abilities against their weaknesses is a step beyond what PSO tasked you with, and nutty players can challenge themselves further with race and gender limitations. I'm playing a human Fortetecher (an uber spellcaster with no defense) and it's nice and tough. I hate to say it, but I get the most joy out of the game playing solo. Oh sure, I know a couple of other players online, but I do most of my grinding with my partner machine and with NPCs. The most socializing I've done has been in the casino lobby, where people talk about gambling odds and never get into pick-up missions. I'm sticking with the subscription while the plot is being fleshed out via online missions. Also, the fact that all the PSO dungeons are being rendered with the PSU engine has got me grinning. I don't mind the slow pace of the content release.
So, only kendrick is interested in it ? So I will probably share it, one interested people is better than none
You want I should drum up some interest? Phantasy Star fans aren't ordinarily game programming/modding fans, for some reason.
Is anything different in the promo than the final product? There was quite some time between it's release and the game, AFAIK.
Oups, I forgot about it. So, does anyone want to host it, Borman maybe, or someone from the PS community ? I don't want to host it on satakore.com as it is not enough old and could be a lilbit sensitive. kendrick, if you are in touch with the PS community and they have some dedicated site and want to host it, let me know.
I'll have to check it out. Man, I miss PSODC days. PSOU was just.....I think GP said it best. Too little, too late.
Yo, I just got Skydrive. I can host a compressed ISO image that's available with no waiting and no stupid fees. Madroms, please PM me and we can work out the details.
