Phantom Game Console Video (Download inside)

This is pretty interesting. It show's the Phantom's interface, talks about pricing and shows the peripherals. The vid is 90 megs but the server is extremely fast, went at 200k for me on my cable modem:

$30 a month plus you have to buy games...seems doomed to me.

 

And whats that I see? is that redraw freeze? like the kind you get when you are running a game that requires a high spec on something that *just* lets it run? Boy its a good thing everythings "optimized" for this.

And it is me, or would that pulsing light piss you off after 10 minutes? unless you are a PC mod whore that it... "oooh lights... *drool*"

 

The Phantom just does not seem like a good idea to me. I would rather go to a store and buy a copy of a game than download it from the internet. I don't think this system is going to be very successful.

Who ever said that the design sucks, look at what it originally was. That is the 5th prototype and I hope I have a good chance of getting my hands on that one since they are located where I live, close, but not far.



Imagine what the complaints would be because of its behemoth size.

They have more than one thing in common...

The old prototype and the Xbox are both big and ugly and their game library consists of cheap PC ports...

 

Hey, i like the XBOX, and no its games do not consist of cheap PC ports. What about Halo, Knights of the Old Republic, Steel Battalion, Jet Set Radio Future, Splinter Cell, Psi-Ops, Hitman 2, Metal Slug 3, Breakdown, and Ninja Gaiden just to name a few.

 

I for one think its kinda sexy for a console...

O i want one to turn into a desktop PC!!!

 

I have nothing against the Xbox but a few titles you name are ports...
Knights of the old republic was originally created for the PC. The PC version was delayed because Microsoft paid a lot of money to get the Xbox version out first.
Jet Set radio future was originally created for the dreamcast
Hitman 2 is a pc port
Metal Slug 3 is a Neo Geo MVS and AES port...

 

2 options for the future of the phantom , well 3....

1- no one will buy the system and it will be very hard to find it in the future and a really good collecting item. (not so bad ending....)

2-someone hack it to run linux and make the usb port to run cds
everyone will want it and it will be a good succes because of it ''big pc at low cost '' option. (a good ending )

3- the hybrid will rest only to prototype stage. (a ending like the others....)

theses three options have each of them a good thing the first is for collection the second for everyone and the third and last one , for big collectors with a lot of money.

JSRF and Metal Slug 3 are not PC prorts :smt023 However, i did not know that about Knights of the old Republic. It is still a good game.
