Hi all Just got a phantom chip and for some reason it will only play retail game and won't play backups. The laser is moving to the edge of the disc looking for the copy protection. Don't think it should be doing that. Any ideas?
Are you booting the console with the lid open (or testing it with no lid)? If you boot with the lid open, the chip is disabled. So only retail games will work. It doesnt sound like a faulty chip, as nothing would boot.
