Hoping somebody could give me any available info on this unit. A friend contacted me - apparently they found it at a K-Mart. I guess it was a demo unit from back in the day. If anybody knows how common/uncommon it is, or any other details, it would be helpful. The disk is a car battery promotion video. Apparently they just played it via the unit on a loop.
Lol, what a find ! Very cool !!! :'D Thanks for sharing ! Sadly I have no idea of its pricing. Maybe other users can help by judging the photos or maybe you could provide model/serial numbers ? If you cant find a buyer for the CD, I might be interested.
DVS Video Engine 200 (categorized under "other players") no clue about rarity, prices, or what that mod/dongle might do, sorry.
The unique feature of the DVS VE-200 is the NTSC/PAL switch on the back. It was mass produced but scarcer and nicer looking than the more common CD-i models so it sells for a bit more. The drawback is that it only has composite video (some models have SCART or S-Video) and it also has some compatibility issues which is why I sold mine (forget the specific titles that didn't run on it or ran buggy). I also have that K-Mart Kiosk disc buried in storage somewhere, got it for about $5 on auction but that was probably 10 or 15 years ago, maybe it's worth something now. Would be interesting to know what that cable attached to that extra piece of hardware is for though. You can do a search on ebay for completed items to get a feel for the price, try "DVS CDI" as the search words.
This makes me wonder what old stock they may have had laying around in the back somewhere all these years. If a store is closing near you, may wanna check it out!
The 220 does this too, though only after a teeny bit of modding. It's a handy feature for sure, especially for all those FMV games.
