They covered these cameras and another type on the BBC Tech show, Click, a few months back. They were impressive being able to focus on any point in the image but I also remember there being a downside yet for the life of me I can7t remember what it was. Yakumo
Lower resolution (they only say HD quality but no details yet) and large file size. Still very interesting.
I wouldn't get one yet. They really did have a side effect. I just whish I knew what it was. I know you can't print them with full focus which is we know. File sizes are massive and the pictures can only be viewed with special software. If you ho to the BBC Click website and do a search you should be able to find the show which they covered these cameras on. They are a fantastic bit of kit but right now I think it's best to wait.
20Mb is massive?! Try shooting professionally in RAW - we deal with pictures 20-30mb every day! It's a gimmick, plain and simple. Are those photos in the gallery taken on one? Because they're bloody awful! Out of focus, poor colour balance, poor resolution. Maybe they'll look better in their special software, but that really makes it a gimmick. Pass.
Gimmick. The resolution is too low for prints and the examples in the gallery (Which I assume are supposed to be good examples) look kind of mediocre.
Both very true. Speaking of which, I need to get another hard drive soon... You'd think torrenting like a mad man would fill up space, but RAW stills (let alone video) are a bastard in disguise.
