I sort of regret not being born earlier in life as I would have loved to have visited Japan in the early gaming boom of the late 70s and early 80s. I've seen a few pictures of Japanese arcades of the 70s with rows and rows of tabletops and even cafes with Space Invaders Tabletops as er tables. I would have loved to have been in Japan on the day when the Famicom was released and even when the next Dragon Quest game was released with it's long queues (the Nintendo DS and Wii queues were rather pathetic by comparison...). If you have any photos or images of anything vaguely video game related from the 70s and 80s then please post them here and make a 30 year old guy happy.
Nah, the greatest days to be in Japan was the 16bit age followed by the Saturn & PlayStation age. Just after the release of the DC it all went bad. Akihabara became more of a shitty DVD land than the games paradise that it once was. Yakumo
Well akihabara is a bit of shitty dvd land now but I still would have liked to have seen the beginning of the gaming revolution.
I agree with that statement. Though this current gen with wii and 360 sorta is slowly going back to the old feel. But I feel gaming reaching it's peak in the 90's.
