Maybe it will get a really awesome name prior to release. Think about the Nintendo Revolution (which was a cool name) and then they change it to the Nintendo Wii . Here is hope that Sony does it the other way around.
That's what I'm hoping they're doing, getting the crap name thing out of the way prior to release. Though my feeling is that this will be it's final name, as the PlayStation brand seems to be slipping somewhat in my opinion of late. Here's hoping they can reign the whole PS brand in and bring it back to it's simple approach and great games roots. Hope they don't get too ambitious and end up like Sega.
Taking a moment to look at it, I realize the design is flawed... The area on the bottom of the screen is too big. It looks ugly having this thick bezel, especially considering theres nothing there, on either the front or back, besides the "PSVITA" logo... I dont see why they couldnt make it thinner. Besides that, Sony should have given it a more unified design, the way apple does with their products. Im seeing too many different shapes on it. Then theres the finish, The area around the buttons looks either matt or like what would be rubber on the joysticks, while the buttons themselves are glossy. Should have been reversed, the rubber/matt will create more drag when pressing the different buttons while playing, not to mention it will wear pretty quick in obvious areas. I should have been on the design team...:033:
Retail, not Prototype I do believe. I was at Gamescom and GDC before it, and I have seen the Vita up close and personal and played 7 of the 21 titles they had for play at Gamescom. From what I and others I was with could tell, this is a retail, judging not only by the part #, but also by the sticker that says, basically: "This is not able to be sold until authorization is obtained, it has been brought into the country for testing and marketing purposes." However this leads me to believe these were the retail units, and that as soon as they have FCC / etc authorization, we will see the same model #s. At Gamescom, they had the CEM-3000NE2, and the CEB-3000NE2, and all we could figure whas retail wifi vs retail 3g. Anyone who knows different, please let us know. Regards, npt
I agree. Vita sounds like a cereal brand What about, the 'PlayStation Keitai'? I dunno... It is hard to make names for consoles. (Keitai (kay-tie) means portable in Japanese)
It's also used as a short form of keitai denwa (mobile phone), so that wouldn't work. Too much confusion
