recently, talking with a friend, i've found that his father has an arcade depot. He told me that they are selling a lot of arcades and pinballs. I'm interested in buying one/some, but i don't know how much can i offer. This is a list of some machines that i know they have: - The machine (pinball) - The Getaway (pinball) - Addams Family (pinball) - Avengers in galactic storm (arcade, data east) - Some NeoGeo games (kof's, etc. nothing rare) - CPS/CPS2 games (ssf2x, sf2ce...) he told me that the pinballs go for about 1000 usd. I think that is a reasonable price ¿am i right?
The Addams Family pinball machine is truly awesome. A friend of mine runs a London venue that's styled like a haunted house, and I often go there just to play his Addams Family pinball machine. It's one of the best I've ever played. If you can, buy it!
I would LOVE to own an Addam's Family pinball machine. I have tons of memories of playing it at a pizza joint down the street when I was a kid. Go for that one!
Would love to have a piball machine, but its the maintenace and repair factors that alway shot the idea down..
i really love the idea, have the space...but no money. Let's see how i can figure it out (maybe robbing a bank hehehehee)
This is a very good point, pinball ownership is fun but you have to be aware that they are tempremental things & they do need work to keep running error free. Also bear in mind that the companies that made them no longer exist (except stern) so if something breaks or you need a spare part thats game specific then it's going to be expensive for some bits. Obviously stuff like bulbs & rubbers ect are pretty cheap but playfield plastics are pretty expensive for some games as if you want originals the only place you can get them is from another machine. Newer machines are pretty good at telling you whats wrong with them if an error occurs as they have built in diagnostics, it's a learning curve but once you have the basics down you'll be fine I have found if you keep things clean enough you hardly get any errors as most of them are due to dirt, rarely does anything go wrong on a big scale. Addams family is considered one of the top tier games along with TZ & a handful of others at the price you have mentioned it's a pretty good bargain, however it all depends on the condition of the machine your buying. It may seem a good price but if the playfield is worn out then it might not seem as good. If you do lay down the cash inspect the payfild make sure theres no massive spots of wear, if you can see plain wood thats a bad sign, also check that the plastics on the table are all there & undamaged. Also make sure you see it working plugged in.
i know that this guy is a total freak of pinballs. I remember seeing him playing and it was awesome, he could got billions of points! So i think that the machines must be in a very good condition...
Most modern pintables have a resin coating which protects the playfield quite well, although it is still a pain to have to dismantle most of the parts to clean and wax the playfield and then clean all the plastics. There is not much to go wrong, although when they do it can be quite major, although most machines do have a lot of parts, the common things like rubbers and lights which will need to replaced most often are easy to get, coils are general easy to find as as flipper parts and generic plastics. Playfield plastics and PCBs can on the other hand can be hard to find and expensive, although most PCBs can be repaired and there are places that will do these for a reasonable price. $1000 for Adams Family is a good price as a good condition one can fetch over $2000 easily in the States.
