Pioneer CLD-A100 LaserActive with Mega Drive Gaming - Repairing?

Before I start, I'm new here and don't have much experience with hardware repairing so I might act like a noob-
So I was at a local second hand shop several days ago, I came across this mystery box with Mega Drive written on the bottom right of the console, out of curiosity, I bought it for less than 7 dollars, also bought a copy of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which I'm not sure if it works or not.
After setting everything up, plugging in the cart, turn it on, black screen, or sometimes, horizontal squiggly green lines. Remote doesn't seem to work either. No audio output. Nothing.
I was kind of sad, looked for my friend for help and ended up here, right now I'm not sure what to do with it, not even sure how to disassemble it to access the cart reader part (PAC-S1, FYI, it's a serperate extension, just plugged into the main system internally), I don't know how to get the front cover off even, I'm just kind of afraid if I pull it out forcefully it'll break- and I'm sure I've unscrewed everything that's connected to the front case.
So yeah, right now I have no idea what to do with it, really wanna recover it too, or, resell it. I mean, it's worth 200 dollars above from what I've heard? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Forgot to mention, as I said, I'm not sure if it's the cart itself being dumb, I don't have other Mega Drives to test so I'm unsure.

 

Bad capacitors are pretty likely. One of those quiet failures gradually plaguing some game systems...

PAC-S1 is the Japanese module, not that it matters for your problem. Genesis version was PAC-S10.
(Laseractive never released PAL)
