Why is it so hard to find anything about Pippin games eh, the amount of english net based stuff is poor, theres a lot of stuff on the Hardware it seems but games are a no no. Props to http://www.pippinworld.co.uk/ for their efforts but there's a lot more. Didnt realise there were more than 1 Gundam title: homepage.mac.com/ wtnb/pippin/pippin12.htm And what about this DBZ game?? Anyone?
Hmm, won't let me edit my post! Two dev consoles on eBay at the mo (are they really dev consoles? One says sample on the bottom). Don't forget that you could search for Bandai Pippin, Apple Pippin, atmark or @world - you may get different results if you play around with your search string. I agree though, hard to find a list! Barry Ling has a few games..... http://www.sdk-team.com/collection_bandai_pp.htm For hardware info, try http://www.macgeek.org/museum/pippin/
Yeah thats what I mean, we can get the console so easy, always on ebay, we can even buy the odd edutainment title or the most popular Gundam title. Apart from that all we have are box scans, where's the proper stuff?
Yeah, well the "edutainment" games I saw... well I guess you could call them educational, and entertaining... only in a "wow, never knew it was possible to get your legs over your shoulders like that" kind of way ;-) Hehe ok, I exaggerate slightly!! Still, its made by Apple... what the hell d'ya expect? When has Apple EVER kept a great stock of the latest games for its machine? ;-)
I do know there was a port of Bungie's Marathon - called Super Marathon - released for the Pippin @world or whatever it's called. That right there is reason enough for me to try and find one. :-D
Check out Barry Ling's feedback here. Be quick! The pippin games were all bought by alexgameover and j0nstringer. Incidentally, Playstation freaks might wanna check out this.
http://darkwatcher.home.att.net/console/pippin.htm Hmm just asking, is this possible:shrug: ps: Just a little bump in an old thread, keeps the spamming down
I have 2 Pippins, an Atmark from Japan and an @World from America (the black one). I bought mine without any software thinking they would be easy to find and pick up, I was wrong. So far I have: atMark Town v1.0 Franky Online for Pippin Internet Kit v1.0 Pippin Navigator CD v1.1 Pippin Network CD TV Works v1.0 Hashitte Asobou! Kikansha Thomas Pippin TITLE CD-ROM Catalog Vol. I 1996.3 Tunin'Glue Gundam Tactics Mobility Fleet 0079 @Card SD Gundam Gaiden Gakko no Kowai Uwasa Hanako san ga Kita!! Post de Card ver. 3.0 Light Ultraman The Digital Board Game I have dumped them all to CHD format for eventual emulation in MAMEs sister project MESS. Hi-res box, manual, disc and insert scans are available for anybody who asks. Just dont ask about the gameplay both bios-rom boards for my pippins were sent for dumping.
I'll have a catalog list on my site by the summer. I just haven't gotten all of the information yet. Should be fun.
Yeah, they are "Pippinized" using a dongle (I dont have one of these) when they are mastered. More info over at http://www.vintagemacworld.com/pip1.html. I have dumped the EEPROM inside both the Pippins CD-ROM drives (the Atmark dump is the same as the @World dump), its logical to think this is where the program that does the checking its stored. The BIOs and CD-ROM EEPROM dump for the Japanese Pippin Atmark can be found here, freshly uploaded for anybody who wants to take a look
No, a copy of a CD will run correctly. The only protection is that the Pippin won't run unauthorized software.
