Which system thus far has been the hardest/easiest to pirate for? Seems as though the ps3 may be untouchable and the sega saturn is up there as well. Would it be fair to consider the neo geo aes the system that fell the hardest due to bootlegging. Discuss

Ps3 its really the cost of blu rays. With a blank one costing $25 a pop your better off just buying the game.

Neo Geo piracy hurt the platform to an extent, but at the same time it was an aging system already on its way out. Dreamcast on the other hand is the most astonishing blunder by leaving a line of code in the bios to boot a game from cd.

Sega Saturn had the most interesting security ring that has yet to be broken. I have heard rumors some have done it but it remains to be seen.

If your talking about what has been easiest to pirate for, naturally it would be the Sega CD or something without any copy protection. If your talking about which console got hurt the most from piracy, perhaps PSP or Dreamcast?

I guess it's pushing the definition, but the (IBM) PC platform would definitely be the most hurt, probably followed by one of the older computers that used a tape drive. Playground piracy for those was ridiculous.

I'm not sure why the PS3's security has been so hard to circumvent, I'm surprised that nobody has come up with anything yet. I've read a lot of linux nerds saying that it's because they let linux run out of the box so the incentive for that scene to do the groundbreaking stuff just isn't there. I don't know about the US but I checked the other day and write-once 25GB BRs are down to £15 for ten, which is cheap enough for it not to be an issue any more.
