I was just browsing ebay and came across this: http://cgi.ebay.com/USED-SUPER-FAMICOM-SYSTEM-CLEAN-FROM-JAPAN_W0QQitemZ140153543944QQihZ004QQcategoryZ86534QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Anyone ever seen that before? It's clearly not a super famicom. Atleast not from japan. Any idea what it really is? Comes with what looks like a pirate multi-cart too.
Meh, its probably just another SNES-on-a-chip clone like the Famicom Twin. The multi-cart is just your run of the mill SNES boot. While not as prominant as NES boots, its still possible to find them in China and the like.
I've heard of these clones before but I never saw one, until now. Somebody should tell all Famiclone makers that they're not limited to work with Famicoms, nowadays SNES-on-a-chip's are really cheap and they'll get much more money with them (remember the Famiclone fever started when Famicom boards and NOACs were the only cheap stuff available)
There aren't that many Famiclone makers left... the peak was during the early 90s when the internet was still a baby, other machines and games were expensive, and electronics was getting to the point that making a console on a chip was viable and could make people a fair bit of money. Nowdays it's easier to make modchips and sell pirate games... with the few famiclone makers mainly selling machines that look like other machines to get parents to buy them for their unsuspecting offspring...
I remember reading that the Super Famicom clones have piss poor audio due to the way the clone chip reads the SPC data. yakumo
I'd assume the performance would be on par with the GameStation, which wasn't very brilliant to begin with. As for producers, I think most just make edutainment machines now.
Well maybe someoine here should buy it if they want it that bad and tell us how it is, open it up for pics or somthing. I don't want it myself, but it's be interesting to find out if it is that SNES clone.
Just thought I'd throw out that AFAIK there isn't a SNES-on-a-chip--yet. The majority of the SNES is on a single chip in the official SNES2 however. It certainly appears that all clones (Tristar 64, Gamestation, FCTwin) use the same chips, which are packaged the same as official SNES1 chips. This console appears to be pretty old so it more than likely uses the same.
I really hate that, I call it shipping racism. The RetroUSB guy refuses to send to Greece, he actually refunded me the money with the excuse "several orders have been lost after sending to your location"... yeah right, like many Greeks tried his products!
Hi Dr Slump. Out of the 6 packages I have ever sent to Greece only 3 have arrived. I'm not the retroUSB guy by the way, just i know where he is coming from on this. I only ship out of the UK to people i have dealt with before of people I know off forums etc. Anyway, back on topic - I'm thinking I may bid on this snes, is anyone else here planning on bidding? dont want to tread on any toes!
Greece has a terrible postal system. I had 2 Amazon packages lost and 3 letters in the year I lived there, which was about 50% of my international post. Most infuriating indeed. I love Greece though and miss it a lot.
That's pretty weird guys. I've been buying on-line since 1999 and I annually miss less than 10 packets from a total of more than 500... a somewhat regular rate for any country I think.
