Pirate Gameboy Clones: A review of classic hardware from inside China

This was a great read, very enjoyable!

 

very in depth review, and the clones were neat looking, I like them better than the original gameboy look.

 

The issue is game support. When you can make a profit off of cloned hardware, it makes sense. To those guys, it's about the money, not about the particular thing they are producing. It could just as well be a CD player or a clock radio. I suppose the GB was more profitable at the time.

If they made a new console, it would die from lack of support.

 

Got a couple of GB Boy Colours coming in the post, they seem to have the same faster clock issue. I'm going to try to replace the clock in one with the clock from a real gameboy color (Only because I have a broken board lying around, and I'll use the link port for an arduinoboy.
