    Good day,

Long-time lurker here... I'm expecting a baby girl and so am in the process of cleaning up. I've come across the following pirates of PS1 titles buried in a closet.

I recall playing them to death as a kid, only to discover months later at a friend's place that they were different than retail. Nearly 20 years have passed and I don't remember the differences, though Twisted Metal 2 and Tomb Raider were the most notable; consisting of different textures, sounds, destroyable objects, faster frame-rate in 2P mode (TM2), and animations. I recall differences in Rage Racer as well.

I don't know if they're just pirates of another region of the game or if they're incomplete titles. I don't have the time to dissect them. What's the best way to rip and share them? I've successfully ripped TM2 and Tomb Raider with both ImgBurn and Clone-CD, though the others are proving difficult.

I posted about this yeaaarrsss ago but never had the chance to follow-through-- sorry! Now I'm ready to preserve them before stuffing them back in storage for another 20 years...

Best way to rip is by using Alcohol 120%, it even has a special PlayStation reading mode.

The best way to rip PS1 discs is Clone CD in IMG/CCD/SUB/CUE format since it supports saving more sub channel data and most importantly CDDA data which is crucial for specific games. Clone CD is very userfriendly and easy to use thus you should have no complications.

Looks like regular bootleg same as retail games, so sharing them here can be considered something like piracy, maybe i'm wrong. Differences, that you have discovered maybe as regular glitches because of bad disk. Anyway use IsoBuster for it:

Can you write here Sony ID and exe date of TM2 & Tomb Raider and other games? You can find it with this tool (i will compare the result to retail and other versions):

I'd be interested in seeing what Tomb Raider looks like, or even a video would be cool. Thanks for sharing!

I checked them all and it looks like the only ones that are betas are:

    Tomb Raider,
    Twisted Metal 2.

Tomb Raider has already been dumped but they were corrupt. If you could dump a CLONECD IMG/CCD/SUB rip it will come out fine. This is crucial because Tomb Raider is known to be picky and only works in this format.

Twisted Metal 2 looks to be quite an early build, 2 months before final. There's already info on this build at Redump but I'm not sure if it's dumped. I'd dump it anyway just to be sure!

    Hope it helps.

Thanks. I will re-dump with CloneCD in that format. Any specific settings to be aware of?

If you use CloneCD there are no settings you have to change. Just a simple insert disc, click the rip button and specify it as a game disc, and set output path :) (That's how easy it is to use).

Other tools might offer settings which I'm not aware of so I wouldn't know.

Thanks all! I've ripped TM2 and Tomb Raider. Any problem with uploading them somewhere and sharing the link? Mods?

No problem, if this ISO file is not from the retail game (also, you can upload abandonware ISOs like here: http://goo.gl/EwMgpT). You can use mediafire or mega.

I'm only here to say congratulation to you for the baby girl. I don't know if that your first baby or not.. but oh boy being a father is the best feeling in the world. I have a daughter too.

    Anyway congratulations.
