It's getting more and more essential. If anybody wants to add me - http://steamcommunity.com/id/Cyantist/
That's a waste. 8GB will have little benefit over 6GB. And the GTX460 in a non bottlenecked system overclocked will perform on par with a stock 6950. and 750w PSU will only be beneficial if he plans on getting a second 460 for SLI. As well as a 2500K(Which is a QUAD CORE. Not a Dual core with threading First generation i5 maybe but sandy bridge CPU's that are not an i3/pentium are all quad core.) will far outperform any Phenom II based AMD CPU in nearly every category. Especially in applications with support for SSSE3/SSE4/4.1/4.2 http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/processor-architecture-benchmark,2974-15.html
mac osx operating system is the way to go beside the grate interface the os revisions cost $30 . when my friend went from xp to windows 7 it cost him $200. snow leapord to lion $30 . call me a mac fag all you want. hatters are gonna hate.
That damn Mad Hatter! Is the cheapness of the upgrade the ONLY reason you can give for getting OSX over 7? Cheap =/= automatically better.
I was reading that there's no point in getting SataIII HDDs since they barely can run on SataII specs. Is that the case? Seems like SataIII is only worth for SSD. So, any recommended SataII HDs models? I have two WD SataII's that are ok, but since i want a new one with 1TB, i need some suggestions. Seagate Barracuda 7200.12? WD Caviar Blue? Samsung Spinpoint F3?
IMO still go for SATA3 HDD. Mechanically, a good drive can just about saturate SATA 1, but it is the buffer which will run at good speed and can make some difference. I got a WD1002FAEX in my system, but I only knew of 500Gb platters. Apparently 1Gb platter drives are out there - if I didn't already have this drive, or had the money I'd buy the WD2002FAEX for sure.
I would say get a Spinpoint or WD. Had good experiences with Spinpoints including the F3, and i have a caviar in my 1tb elements EXT drive, a caviar green i think but still i've had no problems with it in the few years i've owned it. As for the Seagate Barracuda 7200.12, i have a Barracuda 7200.12 as my main OS drive and noticed poor access times compared to the samsung's not that all the Barracuda 7200.12's have them of course.
In other news I'm reinstalling to HDD as we speak. My Agility3 SSD just died. A friend had one die and his brother had 2 die. Just as 2.11 firmware seemed to cure all the problems too =/ You may want to go for Vertex 2 instead - nowhere near as fast but at least they are stable, or try the intel SLC drives or maybe wait for Agility 4.
I'm quoting prices for everything online. Next Saturday i plan to gon on a price check in lots of stores i know. If everything goes as planned, i hope to have my brand new PC ready by the end of the month.
