It's not that much of a pain, you reboot with driver signing check disabled, install the driver, it asks you if you really want to install it, say yes, reboot and everything is fine. You disable driver signing check in Windows 7 boot menu, but in Windows 8 they got rid of that and you have to use the advanced boot options.
If you reboot again, its reenabled. Its a per boot thing, which means if you forgot and try to use something - you gotta reboot, disable it again, etc.
